Application Process

Apeetogosan (Métis) Development Inc. supports Métis entrepreneurs through a structured funding process designed to ensure projects are viable, sustainable, and set up for long-term success.

Below is an overview of what you can expect when applying for funding.

  • You begin by submitting a completed funding application along with your required supporting documents. (See FAQ)

Your application is reviewed to confirm it meets basic eligibility requirements, including Métis ownership, credit requirements, and completeness.

If information is missing, you’ll be contacted to provide it.

  • Once your application is complete, it goes through an initial screening process, which will include:

    • credit checks, and

    • a preliminary lending review.

If your application does not meet eligibility or lending requirements at this stage, you will be notified.

  • If your application passes the initial review, your file is shared with Pinnacle Business Services.

    A Business Advisor will:

    • meet with you to discuss your business idea,

    • assess feasibility, and

    • work with you to develop a full business plan and financial projections.

This is a collaborative process. Passing this stage does not guarantee funding approval.

  • Once your business plan is complete, it is reviewed by the lending team.

Depending on the size and structure of the request, your application may also require committee or board review.

If approved, you will receive a Letter of Offer outlining the loan and grant structure, terms, and conditions.

  • If you accept the offer:

    • legal and security documents are prepared,

    • documents are sent to you for signature, and

    • required insurance and collateral are finalized.

If documents are not signed, the application will be withdrawn.

  • Funding is released based on approved invoices and costs.

    In most cases:

    • payments are made directly to suppliers or vendors, or

    • reimbursement requires both an invoice and proof of payment, in the business name.

MEAP grant funds are applied according to program requirements.

  • After funding is released:

    • financial reporting may be required, and

    • Pinnacle Business Services may offer bookkeeping support, if you choose to participate.

This includes reconciliation, payroll support, and GST assistance (tax filing is not included).
